The Leonard
The Leonard is a 143,000 SF assisted living and memory care community in Los Angeles, comprising over 100 residences designed around a holistic wellness philosophy that supports cognitive engagement, physical health, and social interaction.
The building mass is strategically carved to create a series of open-air voids that draw natural light deep into the interior, creating a layered network of terraces, gardens, and shared gathering spaces. Distributed across multiple levels, these voids connect communal spaces, encouraging spontaneous interaction among residents. Dining areas, lounges, and activity spaces are arranged around these terraces, bringing natural light and landscape into everyday living without compromising the privacy and calm of the residential units.
Beyond its residential program, The Leonard also supports the surrounding community through a neighborhood spiritual space and a PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) facility at ground level. The project integrates residential, healthcare, and neighborhood uses within a single development. Wellness amenities, landscaped outdoor spaces, and rooftop gathering areas complete the program, supporting the project's emphasis on health, community, and everyday interaction.
